Permanent resident versus Imports Gesetzt

Beitrag von Crossman »

Sorry for die English post but I want this clear and concise you can respond in German though, no worries.

I am an American, but have permanent residence in Germany, been here for over 10 years, am I still considered as an Import player? I pay German taxes and vote locally, how can I still be considered an Import?

Yes you are still considered an import. One reason is because the US has a high school system.

As far as I know there is a possibility to get rid of the Import status after, I think, five years. Your club should ask you the "Landesverband" about it. They should know.

Hi,

paying taxes has nothing to do with footfall, but thank you for helping the German economy.

There might be a misunderstanding between. Being an Importplayer - which is a one time fee. After you have been registered in the German System - you are no longer considered as an import (import tax is payed :joint: ) Unless you play another season outside DEU (so you exported yourself) Then you need to be re-imported again.

The second thing is the requirement to wear a "A" and the connected limitations for the team (10 A on the roster, 6 on a Gameday, 2 on the field)
The only way to remove the A for a US, MEX, JPN, CAN player is - a German passport or having played 3 years in the DEU youth system.

So please specify your concern. Being an Import - or the requirement to wear an A.

And it not the Landesverband who can remove the A - its done by the AFVD Sportsdirektor on request. (necessary proof, documentation needs to be delivered by the requesting club)

Yes, it is in reference to removing the "A" from my helmet. Our team next year will have 2 imports on the D, a safety and a LB and as my position is DE there is almost no chance that I will have any game time unless god forbid one of them was injured.

When I played for the now defunct Grizzlies in NRW 2005-2006, I was not required to wear an A on my helmet as I was considered a resident at the Verband registered me and gave me a normal pass.

Our Vorstand will be discussing with the powers that be and requesting that my A be removed, it will be my last chance in playing the game I love before finally hanging up my cleets, pads and helmet.
