I think the problem is that too many of you are just jealous. Mad that you cant make money playing football or who the fuck knows. Maybe german football will reach the level where they dont need to bring in imports. That will take probably 10 years or more. The fact is that in Germany football is a casual club sport.. we dont do it like that in america.. we train 5 or 6 days a week for at least 2-3 hours a day... of just football practice... then there we are in the weight room at least 4 days a week in 2 hour sessions. We invest a rediculous amount of money in equipment and coaches, and that is why bringing imports in is good. They show the players that there is another way to look at and play the game. You all need to stop bitching about imports and hating on them, and try to better your play. The 2buli and GFL would be boring and bankrupt without imports... it is part of the game.. these teams want to make money, so they get the best players that they can afford. I am sick of hearing this shit over and over again... Imports this Imports that.. concentrate on your own game and shut up about the A's and E's.
Just as a last note... It looks to me like plattling is assembling a great team for next season, and anyone who is talking shit about the age of the new players ist a moron, lets compare your "leistung" with that of the old men you are trying to insult.
Time to grow up guys, we are playing a mans sport here

...was just kidding, for there had been a debate about English in the forum recently - and some really criticized native tongues.
Anyway, I share your point of view.

@Bruschii: Imho, your assumption that bringing in foreign players will improve the skills of domestic players is wrong.
Examples: Premier League, the Liga Espanola, even the NBA and MLB! Great teams, best leagues in the world, but:
- England and Scotland missed the cut for the EURO 2008, their leagues are FULL of foreigners
- the Spanish national team hasn't won shit, their league is full of foreigners as well
- even the once mighty U.S. basketball teams have been humiliated lately, and bear in mind that the last three regular season MVPs (5 of 6 if you count Duncan as originally non-American) are foreign. Moreover, in the defending champs Spurs last game agains the T-Wolves, the starters included an Argentinian and a Frenchman (and Duncan as foreigner, if you so wish), and the top scorer in that game, coming off the bench, is Argentinian, too (and he scored just one point less than the American starters + Duncan scored together).
At the same time, national teams that have exported their players to foreign leagues have improved, because it's their players playing in the best leagues.
You can find sports that contradict my findings, of course, but, for the GFL, bringing in imports only improves the overall level of play, but not the skill of any German footballer.
... and what would be jealous of, exactly? Some American having to come to Germany to earn money playing football? Dream on...

also man muss hier schon unterscheiden...

I lost track of your point after the first sentence, can you please explain it in a way that we all could get your point. And sorry to dissappoint you, but Tim Duncan is as American as any other American. He was born and raised in the Virgin Islands aka American Territory since 1492 A.D. Sorry to go there, but a fact is a fact. And as for the GFL, when you play with or against better players, your level of play will either elevate or fall. So in closing, foreign players or import players do change the level of play in any land. As you mentioned earlier, the NBA is currently dominated by foreign players, so they do have a very big impact regardless of what sport it is.

@Rick: no player gets better by sitting on the bench, watching some import play on his position. Even if the German is better, the import has good chances to still play, as he is being paid.
How many Germans do GFL teams start at QB, and what postive effect did the huge number of import QBs have on their abilities?
I'm Rick James Bitch hat geschrieben:the Virgin Islands aka American Territory since 1492 A.D. Sorry to go there, but a fact is a fact.
Are you serious? Sorry to go there, but I would've sworn it was Spanish back then. Anyhow, I'm sure you know American history...
... and ESPN writes:
"Hakeem Olajuwon, product of Nigeria, learned the game in the funkified frat house of Phi Slama Jama before leading the Houston Rockets to two titles during the NBA's Jordan Baseball Intermission. Tim Duncan, product of the Virgin Islands, was polished at Wake Forest before hanging three banners in San Antonio. Nowitzki, product of Germany, completely circumvented the American system -- no high school, no prep school, no college -- on his way to the NBA.
(Funny thing: There are plenty of people in Texas who want to dispatch the military to the Rio Grande these days to keep out immigrants, but the state has profited athletically by being home to the three greatest
immigrant 7-footers in NBA history. Where would basketball in the Lone Star State be if athletic protectionism were in vogue on draft day?)"
What reason would ESPN have to call Duncan an "immigrant 7-footer"?

Players get better in practice... Look at Tony Romo.. or Tom Brady, they were bench warmers for YÈARS and now they are tearing the NFL up. In any sport it is an advantage to have better athletes around you... you learn by seeing, by observing, and by working with these atheletes.
As far as the QB question, have you played with a german QB and an American QB? I have played with both and I can tell you there is a whole world of difference,, that goes back to my earlier point about training time, equipment usw.... If you think that a young german QB cant learn from watching and practicing with an American QB, then you are too biased to be involved in a logical discussion. The jealousy is evident in your writing.
There will ALWAYS be someone warming the bench.. it is up to that person to say '' hey I want my playing time, so Im gonna do everything I can to get faster, stronger and better... and that is the beauty of sport. Improvement through competition.
