We all know that the GFL1 North is the best Division over the South. The South hasn't won a German Bowl in 15 years since the Cowboys did it in 93. But, what about the GFL2? Who is the better conference? Who was the best team in the GFL2 2008?

Essen war das beste Team, die hätten auch Plattlingen PLATT gemacht, da Sie über hervorragende Lines verfügen. für 2009 ist alles offen, wird sich ja noch einiges tun.

Keine ahnung wie stark die Spielstärke der GFL2 SÜd ist.

Das beispiel Essen und auch letztes Jahr die Hamburg Eagles hat allerdings gezeigt, das die GFL2 Nord, nicht sehr weit weg ist, von der Spielstärke der GFL Nord.

Sicherlich weiter weg von den Topteams aber ab Platz 3-4 der GFL Nord muss auch ein GFL team sich gehörig ins Zeug legen um gegen ein besseres team der GFL2 Nord zu bestehen.

Aber die Karten werden jedes Jahr neu gemischt.

Das mit den hervorragenden Lines kommt bestimmt vom guten "Essen", oder?

Wieviele Punkte haben die Essener Lines denn diese Saison gemacht?

Als ich Plattling bei den Spielen beobachtet habe, sind die Pässe über beide Lines geflogen.

Spass beiseite - Wiesbaden hatte im Süden wohl die besten Lines und bekamen von den Black Hawks alleine im Rückspiel weit über 50 Punkte eingeschenkt.

Wiesbaden, Franken und Aufsteiger Plattling sind Topteams, die es mit jedem Team in der GFL2 Nord aufnehmen hätten können. Danach kommt allerdings ein riesiges Gefälle in der GFL2 Süd.

Essen im Norden mit einem dominanten Laufspiel und einer guten D. Das hat gereicht.
Düsseldorf, Hamburg und Langenfeld spielten nach wie vor ohne Defense.

Bei entsprechender Tagesform, denke ich, könnte jedes Team jeden schlagen. Und so ist es auch gut im Football.

Das ist ja immer wieder ein Thema, das gerne angeführt wird, GFL2 Nord ist viel stärker als Süd...hm
Kann hald keiner genau sagen, da es keinen direkten Vergleich gibt. Bin mir aber auch sicher, Essen hätte Plattling, Rothenburg oder Wiesbaden nicht platt gemacht.
Ich fände eine etwas anders strukturierte GFL2 mit IC-Spielen durchaus spannend. Hat alles seine Vor- und Nachteile...
Gäbe ja ein paar Möglichkeiten, z.B. 2 Teams weniger in der GFL2, IC-Spiele, keine Relegation zur GFL, die ersten in GFL2 Nord und Süd steigen direkt auf und spielen um die GFL2 Meisterschaft (mit Hin-und Rückspiel)...
Das Leistungsspektrum in der GFL2 würde insgesamt dichter, es gäbe mehr Bewegung zwischen GFL2 und GFL und man hätte endlich mal, zumindest ansatzweise, einen Vergleich...

As if it matters, I really think what Datmorgana mentioned would be a great upgrade to the GFL2 Noth and South. Trim both leagues down from 8 teams to 6 and play 1 opponent in an IC match. Speaking for the South, Konningsbrunn would have been saved the embarassment of this past season, and Stuttgart...well, they just weren't ready, although much more competitive. The money you save from these 2 bus trips could be used to cover the expenses for 1 Long bus trip - i.e. Plattling/Kirchdorf to Hamburg. In my opinion, 14 games is just a bit too much.

For the winners of the South and North, maybe they gain automatic relegation to the GFL1, but they play each other prior to the German Bowl to crown a GFL2 Champ. In Soccer, the last place team always drops to the next league (1BL anyway). It gives your GFL1 program a hell of a reason not to finish in 6th place, and allows the fans to see who is the best - north or south.

Comparing Plattling and Essen:
I just don't see how Plattling loses this game. Putting aside the 2 games where Franken scored 150, Plattling was the most dominant offensive team I have ever seen in my years of watching football here in the South. I didn't see Essen play this season, but I can not imagine that their OL and DL were any better than Wiesbaden's. Plattling's OL struggled game 1, but the 2nd game, Wiesbaden's front 7 was never a factor. Plattling scored an average of 43.5 in Relegation verses the Diamonds, I just don't see how Essen could have stopped Blakely, Farghali, Starzengruber, Van der Meij, Pav, or more importantly, Hazel. TOO many weapons.

Defensively - I can live with giving the edge to Essen, but Plattling was no slouch either. They gave up 53 points to Darmstadt in 2 games, far too much considering the Diamond's weapons, but IMO, Outlaw played the best game I had ever seen him play game 1 verses Plattling. If Plattling did struggle anywhere it was stopping the run, and Essen was a running team. Verses Wiesbaden 2 however, Plattling completely stopped the running game the first half, 2nd half they were dominated, but there is no way you can convince me that Essen had as good a running game than the 3-headed monster from Wiesbaden with Matz, Perrier and Buskirk.

Aber dan auch (auch das schon mehrfach angeführt) die GFL 2 auf weniger Teams reduzieren.

Wär schon eine Möglichkeit:

7 Teams und dafür Relagation um Abstieg und Silver Bowl zusätzlich

oder

6 Teams und Silver-Bowl, Relegation und IC-Game zusätzlich

Again I have no clue about the South but I would encourage you to check out the running games in the North a bit more.

2 RB's from the GFL2 North have been nominated for the German Nationalteam.

Simon Sommerfeld (Hamburg) and Daniel Berg (Langenfeld)
And even the critics from the "GFL only" fraction have admitted that those nominations are ok.

Booya: No doubt that these are 2 great RB's. I have seen Berg's Highlight films...awesome. Neither of these RB's play for Essen Assinda. The 3 RB's I mentioned all play on the same team, Thunder, Lightning and the Human Highlight Reel as he is named. Add Jalloh to the bunch and there is not a better backfield in Germany, GFL1 or GFL2!

Wiesbaden's running game is legit, but I was more impressed with the Munich Cowboys thunder(Morris) and Lightning(Kandolo) combination.
