ILoveThisGame hat geschrieben:the GFL2 South is all about the run this season baby except Franken which I give it to them, is more balanced.
both DD and WP have good enough passing games to be called balanced as well, imo. discounting PR/KR and K, WP's first and third top scorers were WRs.

I think there will be some surprises this year, everyone doesn't know what they think they know about the South

Corpse, I am sorry, but no one fears Wiesbaden's passing game. If I were a coach in the 2nd Division, I'd stuff 8 in the box and force us to pass. Brauer is a very good receiver, but he still has the same QB's throwing to him. When you force us to pass, we lose!

DD - I think Alexander will be a good QB. I don't think he will bring the added dimension that Outlaw did with the run, but I think he is as good or better passer than Outlaw. The issue in DD is WR's - horrible now that Brickus, Bradshaw, Arnold, etc. are gone. The OL is average, Alexander will be on his ass more often than standing.

SSA - if Stuttgart could ever get a good WR to go along with Lindsey, their offense would be explosive! They have a better than average RB, but their OL is also horrible!

It is Wiesbaden's to LOSE this season, we are head and shoulders above the rest of the league!

I agree with most on this post that right now on paper and based on last year that Wiesbaden and Franken have to be the favorites. For us, Stuttgart, we will find out early where we stand since are first 3 games are 2 against Franken and 1 against Wiesbaden, this will be an excellent test for us to see if what we've done in the offseason is enough to make us competitive. We will know a lot about our team by the 17th of May.

Only true (maybe) for teams that can cover the pass well enough to focus on the run; this year, this should be FK and DD, maybe even SH. The rest? I don't know...

Most teams that are promoted usually know how to defend the run well (and even then run into speed-, size-, and depth-issues in the GFL2South), but they usually have little experience with par (or better) passing/receiving. Pass-D was KW's, SSA's and MoFoFa's demise last year, and everyone's demise vs. PBH, imo.

Remember that 30[+] yd toss to Bräuer from the WP 1 he took to paydirt vs. MoFoFa [sic]? Blew by the CB, ez 6. That's what you get for going for the safety...

@ILTG:
Was ist denn mit dir los, willst du jetzt deine Phantoms schlecht reden ? Das funktioniert aber nicht, WP bleiben das Team to beat !!

"Force them to pass..."

Meine Meinung ... 8)

OK Michel, ever heard of the ropa-dope ala Muhammad Ali :lol:

Yes, the Phantoms can pass the ball. If they didn't have a good running game, they couldn't though, because none of the QB's are true passers, more like Ulrich and Zimmerman in the GFL - system QB's. They have a great running game so they can beat you play action. Any team that plays Wiesbaden must have disciplined safetys!

Franken will be fine because they will again, score a lot of points. They won't have near the defense they did the past few years. I guess I heard they are relying on a lot of younger talent to replace guys who left the program. In the long run, it is OK, they will get better as the year goes along, but will be questionable early.

Phantoms are the most complete team this season which is why they will win it all. The passing defense must improve though or it will be a long day chasing around Franken!
