The Broncos addresed some needs that they had in the draft. But to take Moreno at number 12, the Broncos just signed 3 - 4 rbs in free agency. No of them are premier rbs but still. The Robert Ayers pick at number 18 is ok but could be a reach since they want to use the 3 - 4 defense this year. Can Ayers play a 5 technique in the 3- 4? The Alphonso Smith pick is good, he can learn from Champ and play some nickle situations to get integrated and get use to the NFL speed. Brandstater is garbage and we should have picked a big bodie two gap DT to start molding but that will come. The two safties are great picks. Both can learn from one of the most physical safties in the history of the NFL, Bryan Dawkins. The WR they picked is more than likely a devolopmental pick. Overall a good draft from the Broncos just not as fan friendly as we would have hoped for.
Last tidbit.... Watch out for the Bengals next year. My darkhorse pick right now. They got Muaulaga in the Second round and next season the Bengals will have him playing next to his old USC roaming mate Keith Rivers. If Andre Smith can keep Carson Palmer on his feet, with a re-energized Cedric Benson pounding between the tackles, look out. The Bengals vertical passing game that they had such success with a few years ago could be back.
the broncos draft is a future draft.
Moreno, Ayers, Smith McBath, Quinn, Bruton and McKinley are players who can be starters 2009 or 2010.
Buckhalter, Jordan, Champ, Graham, Hill, Staokley and Dawkisn are 30 years or older.
Moreno will be the franchise RB, Smith, Bruton and McBath and the replacements for Champ, Hill and Dawkins. Bruton could also be a star in the special teams and McKinley should be the future Slot-Receiver.
watching the draft was horrible, because the biggest need from the broncos was the d-line and linebackers, but after some days i like the draft.
i think they will trade Scheffler and 1-2 RB´s to get some picks 2010 or defense players.
