Don't take it so personal. My point is this, look at a case by case basis and decide where to put a team. The Unicorns 2 are going to sleepwalk through that league and the two leagues above them. Say what you want there Kollege, but you have a team in that league that can bring GFL talent to the field if they want........ and that is bad for the sport. 2nd teams of a GFL or GFL 2 team should not start play that low, it is unfair to the other teams.
what a joke. this is a typical case of German Bureaucracy.........it makes no sense, it hurts the sport, it is a bad idea............ but it is what is written on the paper so no one can think a bit outside the box and do something smart.
the people running the sport in that area seem to have no clue as to what helps the sport. Case in point BW Cheerleading Championships being scheduled so that they caused problem with SuperBowl party scheduling. That party is a great way to introduce people to the sport and to market it...... but they make dumb schedule moves.
these same decision makers think they are professional and doing a great job....... whatever.
go ahead, argue, hate on me, whatever. but you have to admit, I have a point
You cant do a case by case basis as that makes no since. What criteria would you use to determine which teams get to start higher? I have said it a thousand times that the level of the first team is NOT an indication of how good (or bad) the 2nd team will be. Look at HBDII, Kiel II, Braunschweig II, and more recently HTII. The whole amateur club system in Germany is based on teams having to EARN their way to the higher leagues. So why should this be any different? Do you realize that the HIGHEST a 2nd team can possible go is the Regionalliga? So if you start them there that would actually be alot more unfair to the other teams busting their asses to get there.
Now if you really want to point fingers, instead of pointing them at the Verband how about pointing them at SHU leadership. If you already know the lower leagues are geared towards player development, why would you suit up any of starting GFL players on a 6th league team and risk injury to those players? What the hell are they learning and what kind of player development will a starting GFL player receive that he isnt getting when he plays at the Bundesliga level against the best competition in the country? That to me would have me saying "WTF were they thinking?" towards the SHU leadership and not towards the league.

Really? And what research do you base this on? Did you see what record the Holzgerlingen Twister 2 had last year in the same Landesliga? Let me help you out --- they didnt win a game at all! How bout the Rhein Neckar Bandits this year? Hmmmmm havent won a game yet... Anyone remember the Stuttgart Scorpions II or how about Marburg Mercenaries II?
I made this same point earlier in the year and I make it again...the overwhelming trend of second teams that are formed from GFL/GFL2 is that they DO NOT kill people in the lower leagues and just run through the league on their way to the Regionalliga. Quite the opposite, most 2nd teams typically find their stride and level out at the 4th to 5th league level after some years of playing on the gridiron. So do a litle research first before you make a dramatic suggestion like this because there are several holes in your thinking and history doesnt suggest that the league should make any exceptions or case by case decisions regarding GFL teams that start up a second team.
Warum also?

The simple answer would be that you lock the rosters of the the 2 teams, if your on the GFL team roster you can't play on the 2nd team. To me it's no different than if you have a GFL team and a lower league team from the same city but different Vereins, they can't interchange players throughout the season. If the GFL team has to "call up" a guy from the 2nd team due to injury then he is on the GFL team for the remainder of the season. Any player who is on the gameday roster of the GFL team at anypoint during the season is no longer eligible to play for the 2nd team.
~ Average is just as close to the bottom as it is to the top
I had assumed that was how it was supposed to work anyways. I have since learned that it isn't.
If the 2nd Team has to use players from their GFL team to beat lower league opponents, thats just a confirmation that the 2nd Team belongs in the lower league.
Never judge a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Then you are a mile away AND you have their shoes.

Exactly!!! But I still refer to the fact that mostly all second teams in Germany are no higher than the 4th league (Oberliga). And given that typically most of these teams are offspring from GFL and GFL2 teams, I really don't see any basis in fact as to why a SHU II team should have started directly in the RL. The success of the 1st team should not automatically give a pass to the second team to get to its highest potential without earning it.

Goooooood Morning!
